‘Can we have more days like this?’

Elim leaders were inspired during a recent Ministry Impact Day

Elim leaders from across the UK gathered in Birmingham this summer for ‘Ministry Impact Day’ – a dynamic and hope-filled event that celebrated a year of significant church growth and equipped pastors for a new season of Spirit-led leadership.

Hosted at the Arden Hotel, the one-day conference brought together over 100 delegates from churches that had completed Elim’s ‘Church Growth and Development Track’ – a national initiative designed to help local congregations flourish through practical input, spiritual renewal and strategic leadership.

And the results? Remarkable. More than 65 churches have already completed the track, with many reporting a turnaround in attendance, atmosphere, and direction. “This is the richest content of a conference that I have received in years,” said one delegate, echoing the sense of momentum felt across the room.

A day to sharpen the message

The day focused on one of the most vital aspects of leadership: communication. Dr John Andrews opened with a powerful reminder that “we must allow Scripture to shape both our private lives and public ministries,” urging leaders to preach with integrity, insight and authenticity.

Next, Canon J.John brought his trademark blend of wisdom and wit as he explored the art of gospel-centred communication. His message struck a chord with leaders hungry to speak hope with both simplicity and conviction.

Mark Ryan, who leads the Church Growth Project, shared from pastoral experience on how to speak wisely in complex or painful church moments – offering both courage and compassion to those navigating challenging seasons. His honest and practical approach resonated with many. “Can we have more days like this, please?” asked another attendee – a sentiment heard repeatedly throughout the day.

More than a conference

But Ministry Impact Day was about more than teaching. The room buzzed with conversation, connection and renewed vision. Over coffee and shared stories, leaders found encouragement and a fresh sense of unity in the mission.

“There was a genuine sense of togetherness,” said Mark Ryan. “It was a joy to see pastors not just learning but leaning on one another as they prepare for the future.”

With strong feedback and clear fruit, the ‘Church Growth and Development Track’ will relaunch this September – welcoming a new wave of churches ready to grow in faith, leadership and mission. ‘Ministry Impact Day’ will also return next year, continuing to inspire and equip leaders across the Elim movement.
